BOSSnet = Scheduled Broadband TV

True Broadband TV is still out of reach for many web sites. Too frequently, a video-on-demand media player passes as Broadband TV. In reality, video-on-demand lacks the most important aspect that traditional TV still delivers: a live, mass media audience.

Thanks to 7's breakthrough BOSSnet™ technology, now ANY web site in the world can develop and "broadbandcast™" real-time, scheduled web programming to a live, connected, and interactive audience. Check out our answers to these frequently asked questions to learn more:

What's a BOSSnet Video Player, and how does it differ from an on-demand or streaming video player?

7's proprietary and patent-pending BOSSnet™ Video Player is a Flash? player that allows sites to host scheduled interactive programs (with targeted embedded reactive ads if desired) in real time, to a mass audience. BOSSnet stands for Broadband Optimized, Scheduled Synchronized network.

BOSSnet allows any site to effectively host one or more real-time scheduled Broadband TV programs. Every "viewer" that has loaded the BOSSnet page will see the same program, at the same exact time. There is no buffer lag or delay once a video is loaded and plays ? every viewer who enters a real-time environment will see every element at the same exact time.

Importantly, BOSSnet allows tens of thousands of viewers to congregate on your site, forming a true live audience. The interactive tools provide for the ability to conduct polls and research, hold competitions, and conduct sampling, couponing or retail transactions TO THE ENTIRE AUDIENCE.

No streaming servers are required to deploy scheduled programming via BOSSnets. The expense, planning, and bottleneck limitations of streaming velvet rope technologies can be avoided, giving you complete control over the timing and frequency of your real time programming.

By way of comparison, "on-demand" sites life Hulu™, YouTube™, and ABC.com provide high quality structured programming, but cannot be scheduled, and therefore do not allow for a real-time audience. Companies that wish to serve tens of thousands of live viewers at once, such as ESPN®'s March Madness, are required to contract with CDN providers, to reserve streaming server capacity in advance of the scheduled program. These programs are typically not interactive, can suffer from buffer lag and interruption, and limit the number of viewers (meaning logged in "viewers" wait in a virtual cue when all streams are in use, and must wait until a viewer logs off of the system for a user waiting to obtain a stream.)

How does BOSSnet work?

Because of 7's real-time game show pedigree, we have created proprietary webcasting technology that "pushes" a unique, time-sensitive schedule, and buffered downloaded video content, client-side (i.e. onto your viewer's PC). Then, when instructed by our schedule, the buffered video content is "unleashed" in unison across every broadband-connected PC that is fully logged in.

BOSSnet uses the cache and computing power of your viewer's PC, as opposed to that of the limited number of distributed streaming PC's around the world, therefore allowing for hundreds of thousands of viewers to enjoy real ?time content.

Each PC sees the same thing, at the same time ? OR, BOSSnet schedules and content can even be crafted in a way that content, ads, or BOTH, can be varied based on the demographic of each demographically registered user!

The Bottom line: 7's BOSSnet is the first customizable, targeted and scheduled mass-media Broadband TV application in the world.

What services does 7.TV provide? 7 will work with you to embed the BOSSnet player in your site, and will coordinate all program scheduling. All video is served via our CDN partner's distributed network, providing your national audience with optimal progressive download speeds. Within 24 hours, census level, demographic ratings for each content and ad segment is provided, allowing for clients to accurately charge for each view (if so desired). 7 can also provide unique "Deal Locker" direct response functionality, on a revenue share basis, with full click-through and transactional metrics.

For these services, 7.TV charges a one-time site integration fee, and a very competitive monthly fee tied to bandwidth served through our player. Finally, 7.TV has several success-based fee structures that provide for little or no ongoing fees unless a Client's campaign is generating mutually agreed upon results.

In addition to customizing existing or creating new "reactive" games, 7.TV offers a full suite of reactive polling, research, quiz, and ecommerce solutions. 7.TV is also able to design and produce key program elements, including video, animation and voice over services for program intros, bumps, segues, promos, and program closings.

Who would be interested in a BOSSnet? Clients seeking to deploy a BOSSnet generally have a robust library of video content, and content programmers on-staff. Clients will deliver to 7 the elements and daily or weekly schedule, for 7 to integrate into the BOSSnet. Quiz questions can be designed and ported to 7 by the Client, or 7 can engage writers on the Client's behalf. Advertising sales are generally the responsibility of the Client, though 7 may reserve some ad inventory for use by its national or regional advertisers.

Can 7 assist us to deploy a simple on-demand Flash player, and upgrade to a BOSSnet at a later date? Absolutely. We can also accommodate Clients wishing to initially schedule only traditional video content, thereafter adding reactive elements when requested.
